Frequently asked questions

What time will I be picked up/dropped off?

Pick up time is 8.30am unless otherwise stated/agreed. During summer holidays we may need to leave earlier in order to secure parking spaces which fill up fast at certain times of the year. Depending on which walk you are going on and traffic, you will be dropped off at the pick up point, early to mid-afternoon.

Can I change the pick up time?

Providing you are the only group on the tour, then yes absolutely. Use the 'Contact us' link at the top of the page to check and agree a suitable time.

Where do I get picked up from?

During busy periods, those staying at a Cardiff address will need to meet outside the National Museum in central Cardiff. If you are the only group on the day we can pick you up from your accommodation in the Cardiff, Newport or Brecon Beacons area. Please email to confirm pick up arrangements. You will also be dropped off at the pick up point.

Do you provide lunch?

We do not provide lunch but you are more than welcome to bring a packed lunch if you think you will be hungry. We encourage people to have a good breakfast before the walk and generally aim to get you back to your accommodation early to mid-afternoon. Due to Covid we are currently not providing water or snacks.

How fit do I need to be?

This depends on which walk you choose. Each walk has a difficulty rating. 'Easy' is a largely flat walk with no hills. 'Moderate' is a mixture of flat with some uphill walking. 'Challenging' is a walk that will involve prolonged steep uphills and requires a good level of fitness. IT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFICULTY OF YOUR CHOSEN WALK AND ARE CONFIDENT YOU HAVE THE REQUIRED FITNESS LEVEL. Please contact us if you are unsure.

Will there be other people on the tour?

Our tour vehicle can accommodate 8 passengers so yes, there could be others on the tour.

Are the walks suitable for children?

We regularly have children of all ages on our walks who have a thoroughly enjoyable time in the great outdoors. Please read the walk information and difficulty rating to help you determine if your child can complete and more importantly will enjoy your chosen walk.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel up to 48 hours before your walk is due to begin for a full refund. Please contact us using the link at the top of the page to cancel. You will receive a cancellation confirmation email and your refund will be processed within 48 hours.

What if the weather is bad?

We constantly monitor the weather conditions prior to our walks. If we feel the weather is going to be unpleasant, we will cancel the walk and issue a full refund. We are passionate in our desire for customers to thoroughly enjoy their walk, so try and make the best decision possible, based on the latest forecast. We will always try and give as much notice as possible if we cancel a walk as we are conscious of allowing people to make alternative arrangements. Unfortunately the weather in the UK is very changeable and notoriously difficult to predict.

What do I need to bring?

We would recommend checking the weather forecast beforehand and dressing accordingly. It’s always worth bringing an additional layer with you and a raincoat is essential when walking in the Brecon Beacons, where the weather can be unpredictable and change quickly. A good pair of walking shoes/boots is highly recommended, especially if you are going to the Brecon Beacons. You should bring sufficient drinks and food for a 3-4 hour walk.

How long will it take to get to our walking location?

All walks are within approximately a 1 hour drive of the Cardiff/Newport area.
