Walk details

This legendary 5.5 mile walk takes you along riverside scenery, with steep sided valleys and four breath-taking waterfalls. In a National Park renowned for its sweeping, barren, mountain scenery, high peak lovers are in danger of missing out on this gem. This pocket of dramatic limestone scenery lies south of the upland plateaux of Fforest fawr. Geological faults and water erosion have produced a series of deep, narrow gorges, sheltered by impressive woodland and randomly broken up by a succession of gushing waterfalls. The highlight of the area is Sgwd yr Eira, where it’s possible to venture right behind the gushing torrent of water. This walk is a completely different experience to the windswept escarpments of the mountains, but the scenery is marvellous and the generally sheltered nature of the terrain makes it an ideal outing for those days when cloud obscures the peaks. Your experienced guide will ensure you have a fascinating learning experience during your trip to this stunning part of Wales. Difficulty rating: Moderate - the trails can be very muddy on this walk and are very rocky near to the waterfalls. Please be confident you can walk for 5.5 miles with steep uphill sections.
